Twentieth Post

Got back from the hospital today with the pastor from our local church.

Good news is that Mom's eyes look much clearer and brighter, and that her physical wounds are healing well.

Bad news is that it almost seems like Mom waking up is possible but not probable anymore. The neurologist said we would have to wait until she is completely off pain medications and the ventilator until she would wake up if she did.

Kind of a depressing day again.

  1. Scott,
We are with you, your Mom, and your Dad constantly in thought and prayer. They are both so very proud of you in every way. I know this is about as tough as it gets. Thank you for continuing to write through it all ~ so many people are holding you up in prayer. The cookies are peanut free and so is everything else in the pantry. Patience and hope.
Hugs, Debby, Shelly, Benjamin & Jeremy

  2. Scott,
The really hard part of all this has started and this is where you must dig deeper to find the positives.I have heard you have a great sense of humor...don't be afraid to or feel quilty to laugh and live alittle. Your Mom"s job is to work hard to get beter and it is your job to stay healthy and as happy as you can for her! You have alot to look forward to and she wouldn't want you to miss any of it.Share it with it her and don't forget to make her laugh. Yes i know that breathing tube makes it hard...:( but that is just for now. Your friends, Toldy, Lee, George and Joe

  3. Scott,
Keith gave me the link to your blog on the second day you posted. We have been checking for updates daily (sometimes several times a day) and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Your mom is a wonderful woman and loved by many. We're hoping for a miraculous recovery. Meanwhile may you and your dad feel abundant strength and confort to press on.

Your blog has impacted our lives in a positive way. We express our love for one another more frequently and strive to not take life for granted. For example, Keith's HS graduation was on Wednesday, 3 days after yours. We treasured the event more intensely because of your story. Another example, yesterday Keith had his wisdom teeth extracted. It has been extremely emotional to consider what it would be like to not have a mom to support and comfort, especially on difficult days.

We know these past 2 weeks have been extremely difficult. Keith's been in touch with your fellow soccer teammates. They're planning to see you this weekend. Please know that you are not alone & you are loved. We care about you. ~Mary Lou Odom
